What services do we provide?

AACS offers a range of therapy and support services to best meet you and your child or student's needs including:
Assessment
Therapy
Training
Collaboration

We address speech, language and social communication goals.  AAC is simply one tool that supports these goals.
For AAC, we also provide:
AAC system programming support
Implementation strategies training
Professional development programs

Assessment

Providing an assessment means we gather information about your child or student in order to better understand their strengths and challenges.  We do this using standardized measures when a child can participate in this type of testing.  Otherwise, we use dynamic assessment.  This allows us to assess where your child is at and then to probe what types of strategies will foster communication growth.

Therapy Services

Following assessment, we may offer short term therapy.  We offer week, bi-weekly or monthly scheduling.  Every 3 months, we meet with you to discuss progress.  We want to be sure that our therapists are a good fit for your child.  As AAC is often dependent on daily practice, we want to make sure that you are comfortable working with your child and the AAC system and to change or prioritize goals to support your success in engaging with your child.

Training and Collaboration

Training and collaboration is a vital service when working with children who use AAC. We are experts in the field of AAC.  We understand that using AAC requires both the need to create an AAC system and the training and support to use this system every day.  This includes cutting/pasting or programming instruction as well as evidence-based implementation strategies.
